Back to Services

I have been working fro 10 years, in Italy, as a computer programmer.

The first 2 years employed in a VAR company, but soon I decided to start my own company, which developed up to employing 7 persons and had a customer base of about 400 clients in town and surrounding area.

The company provided standard ERP software packages to small companies and professionals, but also customized its products for some specific needs.

We also created complete custom solutions, starting from the analysis of the customer's needs, developing the application and delivering it with the necessary training and post-sales support.

Our services included installation, technical support, training and consultancies for several ERP software applications.

I started my translation career as a in-house translator.

In England I have worked for SDL International (Sep '95-May '98), as Italian translator, in their first headquarter in Maidenhead, Berkshire, UK.

In this company I localized a large number of software and multimedia applications, occasionally coordinating several external translators. My final check and QA was always the last touch before releasin the products to the clients.

The second company where I worked has been Tetra Ltd, Maidenhead, UK.

During my period of employment the company was acquired by Sage Ltd and moved to Reading, UK.

I have worked in this company for about 3 years, translating their software products' interface, documentation and marketing material into Italian.

I have also helped to select and coordinate external translators, hired to complete some of the largest projects within the time-frame allowed, and reviewed all their work.

In the last year of my work in the company, I have been mainly occupied in organizing the workflow for all languages, preparing the files for Trados processing and post-processing them after translation, before releasing them back to the DTP department.

In this task I had to design and develop a number of utilities in Word VBA, to process large quantity of documents and allow the peculiar format provided by the DTP department to be processed by Trados, and delivering back to DTP the translated files preventing or eliminating any formatting damage caused by the translation process.

Since May 2000 I'm working as a freelancer, with customers in Europe and North America.

The projects listed below have been delivered to direct customers or to translation agencies. Some of them have been entirely assigned to me, while others have been a team effort, including other translators and reviewers.
